10 best Nikon Z8 accessories

A woman smiling with text say 10 best accessories for the Nikon Z8

The 10 best Nikon Z8 accessories in 2025.

Hello and welcome to my top 10 Nikon Z8 accessories to super charge your Nikon Z8 and to keep it performing at its best for a lot longer. All these accessories are all fairy reasonably priced and some of them are even free as you probably have them at home already.

But each and every single one of these is near vital for me and my photography and I would think should also be very important for yours too.

I posted a video on this exact topic over on my YouTube channel which I have inserted just below accessory number one if you would prefer to watch the video rather than read this blog post.

Anyway let’s get straight into it now….

Accessory One

So, accessory number one is a good L bracket, this is one of the first purchases I make for any new camera and that’s for a few different reasons.

Firstly we have an arca-swiss mounting plate on the horizontal and vertical sections of the bracket so we can easily mount it to an arca-swiss tripod head in both Landscape and Portrait orientation. So straight away that’s a great advantage to have.

I run you through all these advantages and more in my video review here.

So you can see everything I am talking about in detail including how to fit the L bracket and how accessible the ports are also.

Yes I think there are 9 good reasons to buy an L bracket 🙂

Secondly, it places the camera more over the Nodal point of the camera so it will be an awful lot easier when you want to stitch panoramic shots together. This is a slightly difficult one to explain but I show you what I mean in the video version of this post below.

Thirdly, it adds more protection to two sides of your camera body. for any camera I buy.

Fourthly, when you extend the L bracket from the side of the camera body it makes a nice make shift side handle to give you more control when you are shooting video, again it’s probably easier to see that in the video below.

So, overall an L bracket for me personally is an absolute must have for any camera body and it was one of my first purchases for my Z8.

You can check the price on the Smallrig website here…

Accessory Two

Accessory number two has to be screen protectors as they will prevent any scratches or even worse any damage to your top screen or back display. These units sit over the original screens and are held in place by a slightly adhesive layer on the screen protector. They are essentially the same thing as a phone or tablet screen protector.

While these units are not expensive, for me they are nearly vital as they will help to prevent some seriously expensive repairs.

So make sure to get yourself a good set of screen protectors.

Accessory Three.

Accessory number three for your Nikon Z8 is a good CF Express Compact type B card and for me I have found a few cards that work very welll here while still proving amazing value for money.

I personally bought the 512gb and 1 TB card ProGrade Generation 4.0 cards as they’re more efficient and have a higher bandwidth than previous generations, so they don’t heat up as much.

The 1tb card has a higher sustained write speed than the 512gb card, that’s something I will talk about more about in a minute.

The Pergear 512gb card was another card I reviewed and this card shocked me as it ran cooler than the Prograde card and it was cheaper also.

This again is a generation four card with a high data transfer rate and its thermal efficiency was something that really surprised me as it ran a lot cooler than the Prograde card.

Of course the industry standard card for the Nikon Z8 has to be the Delkin Black card as it’s super efficient and it runs cooler than any other card that I know of.

Now, the data transfer rate of a card or more importantly the sustained write speed of a card is crucial here as most cards advertise write speeds of 3,400mb/s which sounds amazing but it can only handle those speeds for a split second. When recording video or shooting in burst modes the sustained (or Continuous) write speed of a card is very different.

Both these cards are capable of recording 8K60P NRAW in high detail mode, where as cheaper or older cards simply can’t keep up, so always check the sustained write speed it needs to be up around 800MB/S to deal with 8K video and high speed burst modes.

The larger capacity cards generally have a higher sustained write speed like the 1,500mb/s so there is more to larger capacity cards than just their capacity.

Accessory Four.

Accessory number four for your Nikon Z8 is having a few spare Nikon ENEL15C batteries to keep you going while on long shoots. Or if you haven’t the budget for a few original batteries then why not buy a high capacity power bank so you can top up the power of your batteries when you are out and about shooting.

Having a high capacity power bank is obviously not as convient as having multiple batteries but it’s a lot cheaper and it will keep you going for a lot longer for only a small investment. They can of course also be used to charge your phone and other devices so that’s handy too.

The original Nikon ENEL15C batteries are very hard to beat and generally these are the batteries I use but I also have 4 Llano ENEL15C batteries and while they are a good bit cheaper, they are still well made and seem to last just as long as the Nikon batteries.

Get your ENEL15C Batteries here on Amazon.

Or checkout the Power Banks on Amazon here.

Accessory Five.

Accessory number five for your Nikon Z8 is a good battery charger and I love the Llano dual ENEL15 battery chargers as they can be charged via USB C and they charge two batteries in and around the same time as the standard Nikon battery charger charges one.

The Llano CS2 charger can charge two batteries at a time as I was saying but there is also a battery percentage gauge on the charger so you can check your batteries current charge and when they are charging you can see how close they are to being fully charged then too.

The Llano CS3 is again a dual battery charger but this unit has a built-in battery so you can charge your ENEL15C batteries anywhere, even when you are off grid.

The only thing about the Llano CS3 is that it doesn’t have the percentage gauge the CS2 has it just shows 4 battery segments to indicate the batteries charge level.

I absolutely love both of those chargers though.

Shower cap and a Nikon Z8

Accessory Six.

Accessory number six for your Nikon Z8 is a shower cap, no, I am not mad, let me explain… Shower caps are amazing if you are out shooting and it suddenly starts to rain as it will protect your from the rain, keep your lens and your filters dry also.

Instead of putting your camera away just pop a shower cap over it and keep it dry. When the rain stops you can start shooting again straight away without delay.

If you put your camera away you will lose several minutes setting it all up again, recomposing your shot and refocusing your lens. With a shower cap you are there and ready to capture those shots in changing light straight away.

You can check the price of shower caps on Amazon here.

Silica gel pack with text saying you need this in your camera bag.

Accessory Seven.

Accessory number seven for your Nikon Z8 is silica gel packs, these packs come in electronics, gadgets and heck even with some shoes so you probably have a few of them at home already.

Their sole purpose is to remove moisture from the air. So, having silica gel packs in your camera bag will help to remove dampness and water in your bag or to prevent excess moisture building up, it will suck water away from your camera body and more importantly from your lenses where it could cause fungus or mold to grow inside of your expensive lenses, which will eventually destroy them.

So make sure to throw a number of silica packs into your cameras bag with your Nikon Z8 and all that expensive glass.

You can check the latest prices on Amazon if you don’t have any at home.

Accessory Eight

Accessory number eight for your Nikon Z8 is a rocket blower and for any mirrorless camera this is an important bit of kit, there is nothing worse than spotting dust specs on your images and then going onto to shoot  hundreds of shots and having to remove them all afterwards.

Not only will it help to clean off the front of your sensor when you are out and about, it can also be used to clean the front and rear of your lens of any dust or debris you might pick up on the day.

So a good rocket blower is a vital bit of kit for you and your camera bag.

Accessory nine.

Accessory number nine for your Nikon Z8 is a rubbish memory card, as this can be left in your camera bag, this might seem a bit stupid at first but trust me one of these days you will be half way up a mountain and you suddenly remember you left you card case or cards in the car or even worse at home.

That cheap rubbish SD card is now worth the world to you and while you might only get two or three hundred shots on it it’s a lot better than no photographs isn’t it.

You can also pop a copy of your camera settings on there as an extra backup.

Accessory Ten.

Accessory number ten is a good camera bag as this is what you use to protect your gear and casrry it around in all sorts of weather and it’s also going to help support your back as long as you buy a good one.

Camera bags are often overlooked but they really are a vital bit of equipment for your gear and more importantly your back.

I am a proud f-stop ambassador so naturally I highly reccommend their camera bags, I always say when you buy a really good bag you only cry once.

I hope this helped you and don’t forget to check out my full Nikon Z8 review here or pop on over to my Youtube channel as I have a load more videos and tutorials up there.

See you out there,
Kieran.
